Rumi Interpretation
The sessions of commentary and symbolic interpretation of Rumi’s Masnavi with a holistic view, for Book Four, are presented on this page. Book Four can be understood as The Book of Unity; the fifth of Attar’s seven valleys of love. After seeking, love, knowledge, and self-sufficiency, the human gaze passes beyond multiplicity and sees all existence as a manifestation of the One Truth. First, one reaches unity within, and then reaches the truth that “One is, and nothing exists but Him.”
In these sessions, all the verses of Book Four have been read in order. The main emphasis is on the symbols, the mystical meaning of the stories, and the connection among the stories, so that after each story we may understand how that story can help us in walking the path of perfection.
